The Annual Bridge of Flowers Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 9 a.m. to noon on the green at the corner of Water and Main Streets in Shelburne Falls. This eagerly awaited sale - one of the oldest and best plant sales in the area - includes perennials dug from the famous Bridge of Flowers, divisions from the gardens of skilled local gardeners and a selection of annuals.

Over 500 plant varieties will be on offer from achillea to verbascum. There are usually several varieties of astilbe, campanula, daylily, hosta, iris, and sedum as well as many other perennials.

This sale also gives local gardeners a rare opportunity to buy nursery propagated wildflowers from the noted Hillside Nursery.

In addition to plants, gardeners will be able to buy professional grade tools from OESCO, and collectible and useful garden books from Nancy Dole: Books and Ephemera, Steve Earp’s distinctive hand thrown pot and birdhouses, and garden art by John Sendelbach.

Refreshments will be on sale to revive busy shoppers. Proceeds from the Plant Sale go to support the Bridge of Flowers. The sale is held rain or shine and begins promptly at 9 am. So don’t be late!

The Bridge of Flowers opens on April 1 and will be full of bloom by the day of the plant sale. Take time for an early tour of the Bridge and think about how your own garden can be still more beautiful with additional plants from the Bridge of Flowers.

Did you know?

In 1929, the Bridge's operating budget was $1,000. Today's budget is well over that amount and depends upon donations, memorial gifts and bequests.
